Eric Walts is the co-founder, President, and CEO of Toric Engineering. Eric is responsible for overseeing marketing, engineering, design, production, and customer service. He develops policies that guide the course of action for Toric’s management staff. Eric uses his experience as a project engineer to development innovative manufacturing techniques to increase the efficiency of control panel assembly.
At young age, Eric developed a desire to be an entrepreneur by working for family owned hardware stores. The success of the small hardware store was the superior customer service that couldn’t be provided by the box stores. Superior customer service continues to be a priority for Eric. The experience of working at the hardware stores to help customers solve their home repair problems developed a desire in Eric to improve his troubleshooting skills. This helped direct Eric to get a Bachelor of Science from Purdue University. As a project engineer, Eric designed and implemented many water and waste water control system projects as well as industrial chiller systems, industrial motion control and vision welder systems, and a military remote controlled hot air balloon and motion controlled pontoon boat.
Shannon has been with Toric for over ten years and in that time has become Vice President and COO, handling cash management, invoicing, and overseeing staffing, insurance needs, and payroll. Shannon reviews customer purchase orders and works closely with our banks and customer’s banks to cultivate close relationships that allow online payments to and from vendors and customers.
In the early years at Toric, as the business grew, so did the need for someone to take charge of the growing paperwork, human resources, and material ordering. Shannon was hired in the summer of 2006 to manage payroll, purchase orders, and project invoicing. Her experience in customer service and detail-oriented retail positions were qualities that were useful in the behind-the-scenes running of a growing business. After graduating from Indiana University, Shannon was a manager at a local bank in Indianapolis, a manager at a retail store, and an administrative assistant with a financing company. The variety of behind-the-scenes record-keeping and organizational skills honed from her customer-service positions allow Toric's operations to flow smoothly. Toric has added two AP/AR personnel to assist in the Accounting Department in order to handle all the paperwork of new projects, material ordering, payroll, invoicing, and insurance.
Business Development Manager
Nathen is Toric’s Business Development Manager and is responsible for marketing, overseeing the sales team, and pursuing new markets for Toric’s growth. He prides himself in customer relations and going above and beyond to meet and exceed customer expectations.
Nathen started with Toric in March of 2003 and was Toric Engineering’s first employee. He earned his Bachelors of Science degree from Purdue University while cultivating his skills at Toric, first as a panel builder, and later as a design and field engineer, and sales engineer. Nathen’s engineering experience includes control panel design, fabrication, field services, instrumentation, telemetry, system integration, estimating, and customer support.
As operations manager, Tony is responsible for managing engineering and the panel shop personnel, helping to coordinate projects from beginning to end. The position of operations manager also entails meeting production schedules, product and installation quality control, and electrical estimating. He is also responsible for delivery coordination of control panels and other equipment with customers. Often, Tony is considered to have an “outside the box” type of intellect and applies that thought process to finding solutions for customer’s unique needs.
Tony has been with Toric Engineering since 2006 and has worked in the electrical/electrical engineering fields since 2001. He graduated from Central Indiana’s Independent Electrical Contractors with his journeyman’s Electrical license in 2005 and continued on, later earning his Master Electrical license. Tony has successfully completed Electrical Code Mathematical Calculations training, Ocal (PVC coated rigid) Training, and UL training courses for Industrial control panels (UL 508) and Short-Circuit Current Ratings. He is currently enrolled at Grantham University, studying Engineering Management.
Field Service Coordinator
Howard is Toric’s Field Service Coordinator, providing concise and timely communications to determine the best course of action for each of our customers. Howard’s 30 years of experience in designing, building, and troubleshooting electrical control systems allow him to understand your needs and provide the best possible customer service.
Howard earned his EET Associates degree and Bachelor’s degree in Automated Manufacturing Technology and has since gained a wide variety of experience within the automotive, industrial, utility and municipal sectors working with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, instrumentation, sensors, telemetry, networking and SCADA.
